Understanding the Basics: Introductory Accounting and QuickBooks training

    NOVI, MI, August 08, 2009 /Accounting PR News/ -- Technology In A Box, LLC announces upcoming one-day introductory accounting and QuickBooks classes in the Detroit area. These classes are designed to provide a basic understanding of accounting and QuickBooks, especially useful in these times of workforce downsizing.

Accounting 101: Back to the Basics, will be offered on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. You will learn key concepts behind the science of accounting, enabling you to manage the processing of business transactions and interpret reports with ease. It is an interactive class and will not require any previous training on the topic of accounting. Some of the topics covered:

• Explanations of common accounting terminology
• Overviews of business financial statements
• Double entry accounting using debits and credits
• What the financial statements say about your business
• How accounting programs automate the accounting process

QuickBooks for the Everyday User, will be offered on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Learn how to use QuickBooks Financial Software to manage your business more effectively and efficiently. This course enables participants to understand some basic accounting principles and to be exposed to the true potential of the 2009 QuickBooks Financial Software. Owners, office managers, bookkeepers, and accounting professionals will benefit from learning how this software solution can be customized to the vast number of small to mid-sized businesses. This course will demonstrate the unique capabilities of the QuickBooks Financial Software including:

• Navigating QuickBooks
• Customizing preferences
• Sales Cycle—involving customers, customer payments, bank deposits
• Procurement cycle—purchase orders, entering bills, paying bills, writing checks
• Tracking inventory
• Payroll processing
• Sales tax
• Techniques to get more done in less time

Both classes take place from 9 am-5 pm at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center, 2800 Livernois - Bldg. E, Suite # 250, Troy, MI 48083. Cost for each class is $250 per person.
