Specialist Accountancy Firm Expands; Launches Apprenticeship Scheme

Apprenticeship scheme launches next month

LEEDS, ENGLAND, December 19, 2009 /Accounting PR News/ -- A specialist accountancy firm based in Leeds has moved to larger premises as it continues to expand in the region - Year End Accounting, which has clients in the hospitality, entertainment and retail industries, has moved into a former bar owned by Rio Ferdinand.

The firm, which is moving just a few hundred yards from The Calls to larger premises - formerly Rio Ferdinand's Players bar - on Wharf Street, has also announced it is launching an apprenticeship scheme next month which will initially take on two trainee accountants.

Established just under three years ago, the firm has carved a niche in the hospitality sector where it represents bars, clubs, restaurants and catering companies, as well as working with a broad range of businesses across all sectors.

Speaking about its expansion, Ian Bavill, Managing Director of Year End Accounting, said: "We started out as a niche firm working with Leeds-based licensed trade businesses but we have expanded, predominantly through word-of-mouth recommendation, to widen our client base both from a geographical and sector point of view.

"Having outgrown our previous premises we have now tripled our office size which will allow us to fulfil our expansion plans over the next three years.

"Part of that strategy involves the launch of our apprenticeship scheme for 2010 which will initially see us take on two more staff in the first six months of the New Year."

The firm hopes the scheme will offer young professionals an alternative route into accountancy from the traditional university path and mirrors how its MD became a qualified accountant.

Mr Bavill added: "I didn't follow what is perceived to be the traditional route into this profession, so I am keen to offer the opportunity I was given ten years ago to today's young professionals."

Year End Accounting was established in February 2007 working with bars and restaurants throughout Leeds - it still retains a large number of licensed trade clients in the city, and now throughout Yorkshire, but also works with organisations in the other business sectors such as construction, marketing and retail.
