Marc L. Stiehr Oversees Technology for the Metropolitan Chicago YMCA
Marc L. Stiehr plans to continue to help advance the YMCA in the areas of unified
communications, social networking, and network and application structure.
Chicago, IL, March 09 2010 /Accounting PR News/ -- Marc L. Stiehr, Senior Director of Network Technology for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago's Information Technology Department, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in information technology services.
Marc L. Stiehr, an information technology professional with the ability to align technologies with business strategies, has held the position of Senior Director of Network Technology since 1997. During this time, he has: enhanced and implemented wide area network operations by standardizing 700 PCs in 40 locations onto the same platform; standardized the telephone system platform; implemented a voice-over-IP platform connecting 33 locations; implemented a point-of-sale environment; and developed a business continuity plan that includes a disaster recovery data center with real-time backup of transactional data. Prior to joining the YMCA, Mr. Stiehr worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 11½ years and the Vollrath Company for eight-and-a-half years. He also spent two years with an accounting firm. Now, after working for the past 30 years primarily with leading edge technologies, Mr. Stiehr is recognized by his peers for his abilities in the areas of needs assessment, project planning, hardware and software acquisition, departmental policy and procedure regulation, and the evaluation of emerging technologies. "My interest in programming and developing applications that would help an organization improve processes, reduce costs. and gain a competitive advantage led to my involvement in the information technology field," he explains.
The winner of a Computer World Smithsonian Award for his work towards advancing the information technology revolution, Mr. Stiehr was also honored by Cambridge Who's Who in 2007 as Professional of the Year representing the Telecommunications and Human Services industries. He is a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Urban Planning from The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Oustide of work, Mr. Stiehr is a vocalist and director for the Spirit of Life Chorus and as such performs 16 concerts a year in Chicago and the surrounding suburban areas. He attributes his success to hard work, dedication to his field, and the support of a very talented and dedicated staff of IT professionals. He plans to continue to help advance the YMCA in the areas of unified communications, social networking, and network and application structure.
