Carolyn Deuel Honored for Excellence in Accounting

Ms. Deuel served in the US Army for 22 years before becoming a senior accountant for the New York State Department of Transportation

BURNT HILLS, N.Y., August 9, 2011 /Accounting PR News/ -- Carolyn D. Deuel, Senior Accountant for the New York State Department of Transportation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in accounting.

Before emerging in the accounting industry, Ms. Deuel spent 22 years serving in the U.S. Army. Having retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC), she is a proven leader with relentless determination to succeed. Ms. Deuel earned both a bachelor's degree in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in accounting from SUNY Oswego and completed a one-year internship with IBM. During her internship, she realized that she would prefer working in government employment rather than in private industry. She subsequently came into her current position with the New York State Department of Transportation, where she has now worked for seven years.

As a senior accountant, Ms. Deuel expertly manages local bridge and highway projects, assists localities in receiving funds for roadwork, verifies contracts and paperwork, and oversees office operations. With an aspiration to work in tax preparation in the coming years, Ms. Deuel is affiliated with a local accounting society in her area.

Ms. Deuel is also an advocate for animal safety. An animal lover at heart, she works part time at PetSmart, and cares for 19 pets that she has rescued at her home.
